Taking your specific case in mind, I will answer this question. This website that you emailed us about is what is called "Virtually
Hosted". That means that thousands of websites could be on the same IP address.Taking this in account, we had a website in our database
that shares this IP with this one. We entered in the website into our database, and classified it using
our Category Definitions. Now the next time a list is built we will filter this site and only this site.
However, it looks as though there was an error in our database (this was not caused by a human). This sites IP was flagged to be blocked, not just
the domain name. So, in this instance, we were blocking all the sites on this IP. Now, there is no way to know how many sites are on this IP, nor what
the URLs of them are. So there is no way for us to email all the webmasters of this situation.
Now if what you are asking is, "Do we email every webmaster of every website that we categorize, so that they may change their content?"
The answer to this question is "No, we do not". 99.999% of the time the person(s) that put up an adult website knows
exactly what they are putting up. For us to email them warning them that we are going to categorize their site as "Adult" in our database, this could
be viewed by the webmaster as us trying to censor this site by making the owner take down the offending page. That is not what we do at SurfControl.
We are not about censoring the internet, or making the adult content go away, we are here for the people who choose not to see this content,
and look to us to categorize these sites so that they do not have to view them if they don't want to. If you have any other questions, please let me know.
