Ambassador Key Hutchins Statments On
Attacking Russian Missle Sites
US Ambassador To NATO Kay Hutchinson mean while is calling
for stikes on Russian Missles:" Oct. 2, 2018 WASHINGTON — The United States ambassador to NATO nearly set off a diplomatic incident on Tuesday
when she suggested that the United States might “take out” Russian missiles that it views in violation of a longstanding arms control treaty.
Before the end of the day she was forced to issue a statement saying she did not mean to suggest that Washington was considering a pre-emptive strike
against Russian missile sites.
President Donald Trump wants
to make nuclear weapons easier to use. On Thursday, HuffPost senior reporter Ashley Feinberg published what appears to be a January 2018 draft of the Nuclear
Posture Review. An NPR, as it's also called, is a roadmap for US nuclear strategy published every four years. It is assembled by the Secretary of Defense,
who is currently Jim Mattis, and other administration officials based on the president's input.
The 64-page document is not a call for stockpiling massive numbers of atomic bombs. However, it outlines the Trump administration's
aims to not only expand nuclear weapons capabilities, but also make the devices eminently easier for military forces to use.
US general says he would resist 'illegal'
Trump nuclear strike order ...
General John Hyten
The top US nuclear commander said on Saturday that he would resist President Donald Trump if he ordered an “illegal” launch of nuclear weapons.
Air Force General John Hyten, commander of the US Strategic Command (Stratcom), told an audience at the Halifax international security forum in Nova
Scotia, Canada that he had given a lot of thought to what he would say if he received such an order.
“I think some people think we’re stupid,” Hyten said in response to a question about such a scenario. “We’re not stupid people. We think about these things a lot.
When you have this responsibility, how do you not think about it?“
Trump team drawing up fresh plans to bolster US nuclear arsenal Hyten, who is responsible for overseeing the US nuclear arsenal, explained the process
that would follow such a command.
As head of Stratcom “I provide advice to the president, he will tell me what to do,” he said in his remarks, retransmitted in a video posted on the forum’s
Facebook page.“And if it’s illegal, guess what’s going to happen? I’m going to say, ’Mr President, that’s illegal.’ And guess
what he’s going to do?
He’s going to say, ’What would be legal?’ And we’ll come up with options, of a mix of capabilities to respond to whatever the situation is, and
that’s the way it works. It’s not that complicated.”
